Do you often go through Sleep Apnea during nights? Did you show any concern for checking it? Most of you’ll say know. A petty issue does not need concern is what most of you would say. But not after I tell you that Sleep Apnea may result in type 2 diabetes.
Yes , this was cleared by a recent research that Sleep Apnea exhibiting people are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. For those who do not know what Sleep Apnea is? It is the intermittent breaks in the breathing pattern which takes place when person’s airway gets either partially or completely blocked while sleeping.
Studies have also revealed that sleep Apnea may also be associated with glucose intolerance, type 2 diabetes and also insulin resistance.
This data was drawn after holding observations on 1.453 participants who did not have diabetes when the research began. These were categorized into normal participants having mild, moderate and severe Sleep Apnea. After 13 years, the same crowd was examined out of which 285 people were found to have type 2 diabetes. Surprisingly those with severe Sleep Apnea were 70% more in having diabetes form i.e. type 2.

This is yet another consequence of Obesity, causing Sleep Apnea and type 2 diabetes both.
Studies are still in progress regarding if treating Sleep Apnea can prevent/ reduce the risks of type two diabetes or not. But irrespective of that, it’s your body, and you must be even the slightest alert for everything that can damage it.
This may lead to complications during delivery. The child also develops chances of being grabbed by either Obesity or Type 2 diabetes in later life.
